Team Schmolivbarr 2014 - shaving for Zac Gossage. We also continue to shave in memory of Landen Rush and in honor of Emily Barr.
Six years ago, Craig Schmitz shaved his head in solidarity with children who suffer from cancer. Craig did this in honor of his niece, Emily, who had Wilms Tumor at age two. The following year, Craig started "Team Schmolivbarr" - a family team made up of the Schmitz, Oliver and Barr families. In 2012, we were introduced to an adorable, funny and very smart boy named Landen Rush, who was undergoing treatment for medulloblastomas. Landen became our honored kid as we fought even harder to raise money while we rallied around Landen and his mom, Deon. Sadly, Landen was called to be an angel on June 29, 2012.
In 2013, Team Schmolivbarr continued our efforts in memory of Landen and with our ever growing group of shavees and supporters, raised almost $9,500!!!! It touches our hearts so much to know that so many people want to help fight childhood cancer and keep Landen's memory alive in those efforts.
This year we were introduced to a wonderful family who is rallying around their son and brother, Zac Gossage. Zac is 6 years old and in first grade. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia B Cell. He is currently in remission (WOOP WOOP), but will continue treatment for the next two years. Zac is a very brave and determined boy and we are honored that his family is part of Team Schmolivbarr. Look for his dad, Cliff and step-brother Tye on the stage with us on March 8!
Back in September we had an early fundraiser at a Kirkwood High School football game. The administration and the Student Council of KHS helped us throw a Tailgate Fundraiser Party. At this fundraiser, by the wonderful and generous donations of our friends, family and complete strangers, we raised over $1,000 in two hours! We are continually touched and grateful to the kindness of people who want to help by donating to St. Baldrick's.
Please continue to support St. Baldrick's by donating to Team Schmolivbarr, we have set our goal at $10,000 this year. Our team continues to grow and we continue to fight. Each one of you is a very important part of this. We are so grateful for your support - there are many very worthwhile causes out there and we know that everyone only has so much they can afford to donate, but please know that no matter the size of your contribution, we appreciate whatever you are able to give.
Thank you so much, blessings to each of you, and go Team Schmolivbarr!!!
