Project Golden Hope is a ministry founded by Angela Stansell and Kelly Johnson. Angela has two daughter's that were both diagnosed with different forms of childhood cancer. Her oldest daughter was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was eight months old. Camryn is now 16 and cancer free. Her youngest daughter was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in 2012 when she was eleven years old. Emily is now 14 and shows NED, ( no evidence of disease). Kelly Johnson's son, Christopher, was diagnosed with DIPG, (a cancerous brain tumor), when he was fifteen and lost his battle with childhood cancer in December of 2014. This ministry provides 'new diagnosis' bags to children and their families when the child is newly diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer. We work with Bi-Lo Charities Children's Cancer Center in providing these families with bags that are filled with comfort items such as gift cards, journals, pens, toiletries, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Tums, blankets, toys, stuffed animals, card games, coloring books, crayons, sketch pads, drawing pencils, hand sanitizer, Chapstick, toboggans, slip resistant socks and informational support. We also provide snacks to the pediatric oncology clinic and floor of the local hospital in Greenville, SC.
We are working and volunteering, (and two of us are shaving our heads), to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded, (only 3.8% of the national budget). So we decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now we need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
