Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

And now, a message from Nora and Sal:

Nora was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on March 14, 1988, four months shy of her 11th birthday. They declared her cancer in remission halfway through her twenty-two months of chemotherapy. Five years ago, we celebrated her 20th remission-aversary by shaving our heads. Now, at the amazing milestone of twenty-five years cancer-free, we're doing it again.

This year has a lot of significance for Nora. Not only is she celebrating her continuing victory over NHL, she's honoring one of her most cherished friends who will be gone twenty years in April. She's joining in solidarity with another friend who, like her, gives her free time to camps for kids with cancer and chronic illness and is now journeying along the same road as the kids she sees each summer. And of course, she does this to honor and remember the thousands she's walked alongside since 1988 - kids and adults alike.

Would you please consider standing with us by donating to help reach our fundraising goal? We are trying to raise $100 for every year of Nora's remission. We know it's terribly last minute...that's why we're so grateful you're already at the website and looking for the donate button.

On behalf of the hundreds of cancer survivors Nora has had the pleasure and honor to know and remember through this simple act - thank you.

Wait - you're not familiar with St. Baldrick's? It's the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for pediatric oncology research. Members raise funds and then on (or around) St. Patrick's Day they meet up and get their locks shorn - all of them - a la Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

It's all about the kids. Let's fund childhood cancer research to help kids grow up cancer-free. Get involved or make a donation today, and click a photo below to see why we need cures now.
