Just the other night I was sitting with a close family member discussing our participation in this event, and how we would go about supporting this cause and raising awareness for the third year in a row. They soon replied that they had second thoughts about joining a team this time around, when they had been the founding father for the inspiration and the team we would all be proud to be a part of. They then stated that it was a big "downer" that very few people would show support and it was hard to maintain motivation throughout the event. I'll admit, for a split second I thought about dropping out as well until it finally hit me. I don't do this for myself, even less for anyone else. I do this for the children battling with ANY type of illness no matter how minor it may be. I do this for the children that remind me of my own nieces and nephews that are so close to their age group, and can't stand to picture them in a similar situation feeling scared or even helpless. I don't have the privilege of having my own children, but I will proudly and undoubtedly fight for these kids and do whatever I can to make theirs and their families' battle easier. If I wanted to give up on just participating in this event, how strong must these children be to actually be fighting for their lives and STILL come out at the end with smiles on their faces? Whatever your motivation to donate or participate may be, I ask you to look for it and help with whatever possible. It may be $1 or $100 that I donate but I know ANYTHING will help this cause. Whether it's a small donation, passing on the message, or even just showing up to the event, all help is greatly appreciated. Thank You ^_^
