We have answered the call to be heroes! We've teamed up to have our heads and/or beards shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. There is one catch, the event isn't until 05/19/12 and we've committed to letting our hair and/or beards grow out until that time. Please support our Portland/Vancouver St. Baldrick's event by shaving and help us grow it to be the largest event in the world. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. 82% of every dollar raised goes directly to the research. And it makes a difference: the cure rate for the most common childhood cancer (which accounts for ~1/3 of all childhood cancers) was 3% in the 1950s but is currently at ~90%! Think about that. It's the research. The kids that have cancer do not have the choice to be bald...but we do, and we can make a difference!
