As volunteer firefighters and EMTs, our duty is to save lives, and this year we’ve decided to go one step further and to shave our heads to raise money for childhood cancer research. More children die of childhood cancer than any other disease in the U.S. and the money that is raised through this event goes to giving our nation’s children a better chance. Not only that, but shaving our heads shows solidarity with kids who might lose their hair as a result of their treatment. And let’s face it- with all the heavy gear we wear it’s going to be nice to be able to keep our heads cool.
