One of Somersfield’s own, Eoghan Homan, was diagnosed two years ago with a rare form of childhood cancer and battled it bravely until he became an angel on February 23, 2023.
Eoghan was studying in DP1 and had been a member of the learning community since the age of three, starting in the Children’s House. He was a wonderful friend to his peers and a positive mentor to younger students. His family holds a special place in our hearts as they have been an integral part of our school. His sister, Aisling Homan, graduated from Somersfield Academy in 2022. Eoghan’s parents, Colm and Niamh Homan, have been highly active contributors to the life of the school for many years. It’s clear Somersfield lies at the heart of the Homan Family.
As a community we stand in solidarity with the Homan family to honor Eoghan and do our part in the battle to cure childhood cancer.
We would also like to recognise Somersfield students Brennan and Liliana for courageously fighting and defeating their childhood cancers, as well as any other students who have or will be facing this battle. We stand with you.

Research is hope for kids with cancer, but donations to find cures have been down since 2020. Your gift will give kids hope, supporting the largest charitable funder of childhood cancer research grants.
Let’s make sure kids know we still have their back. Please give generously, to give them the long, healthy lives they deserve.
