We are shaving our heads to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So we decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now we need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
In Jan 2014, Lyndsey was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her right fibula - that's your lower leg bone. Our brave cancer fighter fought her way through 19 rounds of chemo and learned to walk again after major surgery to remove the tumor. Lyndsey, Cancer-Fighting Ninja, was a great responder to chemo, and finished her long journey to end of treatment in Sept 2014. For the next few years, she'll be in the monitoring phase with frequent scans, but we look forward to a brighter future.
We are thrilled to share Lyndsey is now a freshman year in college, studying political science. 2019 is extra special to our family, as this year will mark FIVE years since Lyndsey completed treatment and will officially be declared IN REMISSION!
We are truly grateful to our friends, family and work colleagues for their support and prayers during that difficult year and to this day - keeping us sane and in good spirits. As always, we thank her awesome medical team; Dr Maria Falcon-Cantrill, Dr Zachary Child, and Dr Aaron Sugalski for their incredible medical care and all of the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Methodist Children's Hospital and UT Health San Antonio. Lyndsey said it best, as she left the hospital after her last round of chemo, 'I am no longer just surviving, I am a SURVIVOR!'
