I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Cristi's Little Warriors

Hi there! My name is Veronica Rivera, but you can call me "Vero" for short! I am in my 4th year of studying Political Communications at The University of Texas at Austin and am originally from a small town in the Rio Grande Valley (South Texas) known as San Benito, TX. Last year was the first year I participated in St. Baldrick's and it was an AMAZING experience! Even if it wasn't much, I was even able to raise about $700 and donate 16 inches worth of hair to Pantene Pro-V's Beautiful Lengths because of it.

Between then and now, I received notice that my mom had a tumor directly underneath her brain, and would immediately begin treatment to attempt to shrink the tumor to make it go away. I felt as though my life had just come tumbling down on me, yet my mom has continued stayed strong. Then during this Christmas break, I received the unbearable news that one of my uncles was diagnosed with cancer and that one of my supervisors who believed in me the most and pushed me to even believe in myself lost her life to a short battle with cancer. Having this come so suddenly and hit even closer to home than ever before, helped in me deciding to have my head shaved again! We need to find cures! No one, young or old, deserves to fight cancer alone, and the more we can do to fund research to find a cure, is something we should all be doing.

Furthermore, since my hair won't be long enough to donate, I have decided to color my hair to a color of YOUR CHOICE once I hit $1,000 goal and/or get closer to the shaving date. I know reaching this goal is possible, because every dollar, quarter and even penny counts!

Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
