I have participated in St. Baldrick's for the last several years. This year, TEAM MAYER is supporting EMILY BRIGGS, an 8th grader from Northport. While she does not have cancer, she spent many weeks in Sloan Kettering undergoing chemotherapy and receiving a bone marrow transplant. She was very sick and lost all her hair. Despite the fact that she does NOT have cancer, I am honoring her because she is my hero and an example to all children who have to undergo such a difficult treatment process. We pray that EMILY's auto-immune disease goes away and that EMILY makes a swift recovery. We hope she gets back to school soon and that she'll be back on the baseball field with all of the Northport families that love her. EMILY is our hero.
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
