I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

For the 6th time, I'm shaving my head to raise funds for children's cancer research, and to stand in solidarity with kids fighting these awful diseases. I do this because I believe that no parent should have to watch their child die.

I participate in memory of my beautiful cousin Michelle, who died of colon cancer at age 30, her kind and generous brother Mark, who succumbed to lung cancer at 46, and their lovely and loving mother Gabrielle, who died of cancer mere months after burying her son. I do it in support of all who are currently fighting this battle, and in thanks for my two incredible, healthy children and my own clean bill of health after fighting breast cancer in the thick of the pandemic.

And finally, I do it for my friend's daughter, Olivia, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in November 2014 on her 5th birthday. She is now 7 years cancer-free thanks to the support of her family, her phenomenal doctors and nurses, and the research that came before. She is amazing. Her family is amazing. You can follow her story at www.facebook.com/supergirlolivia/.

Please support families fighting cancer with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the US government. Research is hope for kids with cancer, but donations to find cures have been down since 2020. Your gift will give hope to thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

In past years, with your help, I have raised:

     2004 - Old Brogue Irish Pub - $3,783

     2008 - Ned Devine's - $6,061

     2012 - Fast Eddie's - $4,621

     2016 - Boundary Stone - $4,133

     2020 - Kirwan's on the Wharf - $4,178

     2024 - Takoma Beverage Company - $3,154 and counting ...

Now I need your help again! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference. If you're not sure whether to donate, watch the below video. Then follow your heart.

p.s. In addition to fundraising for St. Baldrick's, I will donate my hair to Children With Hair Loss (https://childrenwithhairloss.org/).
