5 years ago my mother went into hospital as she was having difficulty breathing. During the tests that were performed, it was found that she had a massive lump in her abdomen. The doctor highly suspected that she had ovarian cancer but a biopsy was needed to confirm. She could not get the biopsy until she was cleared of the medications she was being given. 6 days after going into hospital she passed away, never having had the opportunity to have the biopsy done.
This year, the St. Baldrick’s event is occurring on what would have been her 79th birthday. I am doing this in the hopes that one day detection will be easier... in the hopes that one day no one else will have to wonder if… in the hopes that one day cancer can be eradicated but if not, a cure can be found that means no suffering… in the hopes that one day, cancer will be no more than a memory as opposed to its being a modern day plague.
I thought cancer would never closely affect my life, that it didn’t apply to me and mine. I wish I had been wrong. Please support this cause so that all those who currently think like I did are right. Thank you.
