I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Shavin' Shelleys

Raising money for childhood cancer research is something I am passionate about. My cousin Colin was diagnosed with ALL after his first birthday. He will be finished with his treatment at the end of 2013. Through Colin's cancer journey, I have had the honor of meeting some other beautiful children. Piper was Colin's neighbor at "Hotel Aflac" and quickly gained a special place in our family's heart. Piper's fight with cancer ended in 2012 when she earned her wings. I only had the pleasure of meeting her a few times, but as crazy as it sounds, I think of Piper daily. Then I met Millie. Millie has been a champ in her fight against cancer. She has the warmest smile you will ever see. September of 2011 I read Mary Tyler Mom's blog for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. She shared the story of her daughter Donna's battle with cancer. It was raw, painful, and beautiful. Donna's story changed me. I didn't have to know this child to fall in love with her. Early 2012 I decided to participate in a St. Baldrick's event. Mary Tyler Mom also announced that she would be hosting an event. It seemed like a natural choice and IT.WAS.AMAZING. People coming together to raise money for kids that NEED A VOICE. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS!
