What if it was your son or daughter? To hear that word spill from the doctor’s lips…..CANCER. You go numb, mind reeling. No, it has to be a mistake, they are too young, there’s no possible way they could have cancer! That’s something that happens to adults!

But no, it isn’t. Forms of childhood cancer are all too common. Every three minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer, and the average age at diagnosis is six years old.

Childhood cancer research is a cause that resonates on a very personal level for me. A very dear friend of mine lost her son to a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. He was only 7 when he was diagnosed. He has since moved on from our world, but never let it be said that he lost his battle with cancer. He battled everyday, and never, ever, gave up.

I’ve seen it on both levels, cancer, and the devastating effects it has on adults and on children, and their respective families. Progress is being made, and the St. Baldrick’s foundation is a huge contributor to the cause. With nearly $37 million in revenue in 2015, $25 million went to grants and advocacy for childhood cancer research!! That’s huge! And with your help, we can grow that support for 2016 and beyond!

Your generosity in supporting me over the years has been nothing short of amazing, having raised over $10,000 over my first five years of participation, and we are on pace to add another $3000 or more this year! Please, help and donate if you can. Any amount can truly make a difference, whether it’s $1 or $20, it all goes to such an incredible foundation and cause. Let’s make a difference together!

Please, feel free to check out the website (www.stbaldricks.org) and poke around. Look at the statistics, research their financials, read the stories of the honored kids, the ambassadors, and their families. The stories are heart wrenching, as well as inspiring and motivational.
