Hi there. My name is Sarah and I am a 2x childhood leukemia survivor and, what I like to call, a stem cell transplant thriver!
Why am I shaving my head with St. Baldrick’s?
Because your donation “on my head” will actually save lives. I am living proof the impact your dollars have!
It’s been 12 years since I received a lifesaving stem cell transplant for relapsed leukemia. The chemotherapy that was used to get me into remission for transplant was offered at CHKD because of an infrastructure grant from St. Baldrick’s.
Without this trial my vital organs would have been damaged significantly by the antiquated drugs used the first time I was treated. I may not have survived the transplant process.
Thankfully this new drug, the first to be created for children in 40 years gave me a fighting chance. Please help me ensure all children have a chance at a lifetime.
Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.
Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
