I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Upstate

Why am I shaving my head, and why should you care?

I have worked with children for my whole life, and children are not just small adults. Treatment of childhood cancer requires rigorous research to find treatments that work with children's bodies as they develop, not just smaller doses...

St. Baldrick's Foundation is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants. Only the US government funds more research. In this time of government cut-backs, our support is more important than ever to see children continue to get groundbreaking treatment.

Treating childhood cancer is not as profitable as treating adults with cancer. So we can't count on drug companies doing the needed research to treat children.

St Baldrick's Foundation funds research right in my own community. That means better outcomes for my neighbor's kids, for other families in the region that come here for treatment, and contributions to medical education and the next generation of doctors who will treat all of us. All of this means more jobs and more opportunities to advance our medical knowledge and create healthier communities. That's not just true for here in Syracuse. This is all over the US.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
