Friends, family, loved ones...
In 2020, I will *not* be shaving my head even though this fundraising page suggests otherwise. I didn’t shave last year, either; I’m taking a few years off to grow some substantial hair so when I *do* shave again—and I absolutely will! (February 2022 represent!)—it will be a dramatic difference with yet another lofty-to-borderline-unreasonable fundraising goal, I’m sure. ;)
When I first started participating in 2016, I set out to raise 10K in three years and with all of your generous hearts, I *exceeded* that goal.
2016: $2,225.00
2017: $4,225.00
2018: $4,300.00
2019: $700.00
2020: $1,070.00
GRAND TOTAL OF $12,520.00 IN FIVE YEARS! <3
I’ll never be able to express my gratitude or describe how much this means to me. I mean, seriously...I know the most amazing people. Ever. That being said, my “goal” for the 2020 “event” was set at a permanent $390.00 (I turned 39 on November 5, 2019 so it seemed fitting :). It also pushed my grand total past the 12K mark, and I’m certain you all heard me audibly squeal with joy because I *so* did.
EDITED TO ADD: new *ultimate* goal...
I want to raise $15,000.00 (total!) by my next head shave in February 2022. It would be a literal dream come true. $2,480 to go! Kind of a lofty goal for just a couple of years of fundraising...but I’m here for it. :) <3
Listen...childhood cancer is an absolute beast.
Most of you already know I'm a a mom of five amazing children, one of whom is a Shaken Baby Syndrome Survivor. Due to her medically fragile condition, we tend to be "frequent flyers" at our local children's hospital and we've seen these unspeakably brave fighters firsthand, enduring things no child should *ever* have to endure.
That being said, my goal—while much less lofty than in years past—is to raise a little bit of money for childhood cancer research, even if I am keeping my mane on lock in 2020. So...did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is *extremely* underfunded (only 4% of federal government cancer research funding goes to children--FOUR PERCENT). Ugh. Four percent, you guys. I mean...only four percent? My heart can't reconcile that amount. It just can't.
Now I need your help! Will you please consider making a donation? Every single dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Please consider donating, and please spread the word...
Thanks for always having my back and supporting me. Y’all know how incredibly PUMPED I get when a new donation pops up. It’s an absolute privilege to “donate” my birthday to St. Baldrick’s. So many kids don’t get the chance to see their 39th year of life, you know? F*ck cancer, for really real. What a thief.
That being said, you all ROCK! Let’s *do* this!
With my love & gratitude to all,
Courtney <3
