Dear Family and Friends,
It’s been 12 years that I’ve been shaving my head to honor and raise money for childhood cancer research. Many of you have been with me from the beginning and many have joined along the way. Each of you is invaluable and I thank you for walking this journey with me to help fight childhood cancer.
This year is more personal than years past as I am shaving my head to honor our dear friends, the Ebners, whose nephew succumbed to cancer last Spring. Luke was a beautiful, playful and loving 5 year old boy looking forward to starting kindergarten, when DIPG, a rare and aggressive brain cancer, stole his future. Luke passed away just 17 days from presentation/diagnosis, leaving his family, aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins and friends in shock and devastated. This scenario is the exact reason I first shaved my head and humbly asked for your donations. I never wanted a parent to endure this pain and loss of their precious child.
St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government source of funding for childhood cancer research. I was recently invited to Children’s Hospital Colorado to tour the oncology research department and meet with some of the doctors that have been awarded grants from the St. Baldrick’s foundation. Our donations go directly to talented physicians working to find therapies and cures for these various forms of cancer. Interestingly, I was honored to meet with a team researching DPIG, the aggressive cancer that claimed Luke’s life. Our private donations make a difference!
Please consider supporting this important cause and join me in this fight to save children’s lives. You can participate by making a donation, or join me and my boys, Quinn and Nick, in the barber’s chair and go bald!
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely, Gil Adamowski
