I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Kapiolani

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Kapiolani

Growing up with two pediatric oncologists for parents, I had always been aware of cancer, more aware, perhaps, than my peers. As a child, I knew a little about what kids with cancer endured, and I knew that cancer sucked. But I never really understood until I began volunteering in Kapiʻolani Medical Center's playroom with Child Life, where I then interned this summer. Also during the summer, I was a counselor in training at Camp Ānuenue, a very special weeklong camping experience for children in Hawaiʻi who have or have had cancer. Through these experiences I have gotten to know and bonded with quite a few of these little warriors. I admire their resilience and strength as they bravely face their battles, wide-eyed and smiling. I am shaving my head this year because I want to join in on the fight against childhood cancer. By donating to this noteworthy cause, you are joining an ʻohana of real-life heroes. Mahalo for your support, and aloha.
