Friends, family, loved ones...
In 2019, I will *not* be shaving my head even though this fundraising page suggests otherwise. I’m taking a few years off to grow some substantial hair so when I *do* shave again—and I absolutely will!—it will be a dramatic difference with yet another lofty-to-borderline-unreasonable fundraising goal, I’m sure. ;)
When I first started participating in 2016, I set out to raise 10K in three years and with all of your generous hearts, I exceeded that goal.
2016: $2,225.00
2017: $4,225.00
2018: $4,300.00
GRAND TOTAL OF $10,750.00 IN THREE YEARS! <3
I’ll never be able to express my gratitude or describe how much this means to me. I mean, seriously...I know the most amazing people. Ever. That being said, my “goal” for the 2019 “event” is set at a permanent $380.00 (I turn 38 on November 5, 2018 so it seemed fitting :). It will also push my grand total past the 11K mark, and you will all hear me audibly squeal with joy when that happens.
Listen...childhood cancer is an absolute beast.
Most of you already know I'm a a mom of five amazing children, one of whom is a Shaken Baby Syndrome Survivor. Due to her medically fragile condition, we tend to be "frequent flyers" at our local children's hospital and we've seen these unspeakably brave fighters firsthand, enduring things no child should *ever* have to endure.
That being said, my goal—while much less lofty than in years past—is to raise a little bit of money for childhood cancer research, even if I am keeping my mane on lock in 2019. So...did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is *extremely* underfunded (only 4% of federal government cancer research funding goes to children--FOUR PERCENT). Ugh. Four percent, you guys. I mean...only four percent? My heart can't reconcile that amount. It just can't.
Now I need your help! Will you please consider making a donation? Every single dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Please consider donating, and please spread the word...
Thanks for always having my back and supporting me. Y’all know how incredibly PUMPED I get when a new donation pops up. It’s an absolute privilege to “donate” my birthday to St. Baldrick’s. So many kids don’t get the chance to see their 38th year of life, you know? F*ck cancer, for really real. What a thief.
That being said, you all ROCK! Let’s *do* this!
With my love & gratitude to all,
Courtney <3
