I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Kam&Kim

My name Kaelyn and I am very excited to shave my head. I am choosing to do this to give someone hair that doesn’t have hair due to cancer. I choose St. Baldrick’s because it’s the best way to do this. I want to help fight cancer!

My name is Kim and here’s my story: September 2012 was literally the scariest month of my life. I, Kim, a single 22 year old mother, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This tumor was initially thought to be benign then after pathology, it was cancerous. This tumor was removed by Dr. Forget at Mercy, who I am forever grateful for his talent and the care I received. I was hospitalized for about a week recovering and waiting. I was waiting to find out if I needed chemo/radiation, I was waiting to see if the surgery was truely successful. I was waiting to see if I would have any long term deficits. I was waiting for my fate. Well, I eventually found out my neurosurgeon got it all. My tumor was GONE with excellent margins. I didn’t need chemo/radiation. I was so, truely blessed. My blessing has taught me so much about the value of life. Life is so precious. You never ever know what tomorrow may bring. Following September of 2012, I was able to move on with my life. I get MRIs regularly and follow-up with a few doctors, but that’s pretty much it -other than my anxiety about recurrence. I have experienced a tiny piece of what cancer is. A tiny one, and that was petrifying... Cancer is a big jerk and we need to kill it, once and for all. Kaelyn and I are so excited to help St. Baldricks research childhood cancer.

Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
