I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Donna's Good Things

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Donna's Good Things

Mary Tyler Mom goes to Washington!

For six years, our family co-hosted a shave event for St. Baldrick's, helping to raise over $550K for much needed research to better understand and treat childhood cancer. Those funds would never help our dear Donna, who died of an aggressive brain tumor in 2009, but we hoped the research would help those kiddos currently in treatment and those not yet diagnosed.

Last March we hung up our shaving clippers, but when the 46 Mommas come a callin', you gots to answer that call. In April I will be heading to our nation's capital to stand alongside other mothers impacted by childhood cancer to advocate.

We will be meeting with Congressional representatives to encourage the passage and funding of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Treatment, Access and Research (STAR) Act. Children and families impacted by cancer deserve better. I can think of no greater way to honor my girl or the experiences of my fellow Cancer Mothers than to take our stories and our children to the elected officials who can choose to fund desperately needed research.

Please consider helping me in my efforts by supporting the work of St. Baldrick's, who will be providing training for all us 46 Mommas. I've helped raise a lot of $, but now its time to raise a bit of hell.
