Osteosarcoma. It’s a word I had never heard before April 10, 2015. Osteosarcoma is a rare form of bone cancer that mostly affects children, adolescents, and young adults. Our son, Christian, was playing football at Randolph-Macon college when our “normal” life was changed forever with the words “your son has cancer”. We watched helplessly as our beautiful, brave son fought for his life with so much courage and dignity. Christian passed away April 1,2016 and our grief is profound. We try to live everyday to honor his passion for life. He loved children, especially babies. He hated feeling helpless when he heard the babies crying when he was hospitalized during his treatment. I know he would want me to do anything I could to help. So, I'm shaving my head to honor my beautiful son. I am shaving my head for every family who has heard the words “your child has cancer.” I am shaving my head because I have hope for a future where no other child will suffer the ravages of cancer. I am shaving my head because Christian was the light of our lives and he always made us smile and I hope this will light someone’s life and make them smile. I am shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
