I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: St Baldricks drAGOns

I can’t believe that this will be the fourth straight year that I help organize and shave my head to help raise money for children’s cancer research. I could not be more excited to do my small part for this wonderful cause. Some good things have happened in the last four years. First, the FDA approved two new drugs specifically for pediatric cancer, including the first gene therapy treatment in the U.S. for children with cancer. Frustratingly, however, these drugs were only the third and fourth approved specifically for kids with cancer in the last 22 years! Second, my cousin Matthew, the inspiration and impetus behind my family’s work with St. Baldrick’s, now has been at NED – no evidence of disease – for over two years! Yet a number of Matthew’s friends, including Dylan, Kylie and Mary Elizabeth, have succumbed to this terrible disease. Also, several amazing children from this area also have passed away after bravely waging a tremendous battle – Dorian, Madeline and Luke. As I type this message, another brave boy, Marik, is in his last weeks. The posts from his mother are just heart-breaking; I cannot even imagine what that family is going through.

There is nothing I can do for those children and their families now other than pray, but there is something that we all can do for the 300,000 children worldwide that will be diagnosed with cancer this year, which is one child every two minutes. We can raise money for childhood cancer research! That is the only thing St. Baldrick’s funds – pediatric cancer research. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

Thank you!
