I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!
During our recent cruise I met a lady whose daughter was diagnosed with an auto immune deficiency and wasn't expected to live beyond the age of two years old. She was given a bone marrow transplant and thankfully, she is now aged 20 years of age. Due to the condition, she is now needing another transplant. However, this is where the story takes a turn for the worse, she is now not fit enough to undergo the surgery and her demise is inevitable. I felt extreme sadness and lucky at the same not to have such a terrible disease.
On returning home I read an article in the local newspaper about the wonderful work that St Baldrick's do and this got me thinking. Being so lucky and healthy I thought it was time to help someone who wasn't so lucky.
This is where I need your help! Did you know that kids' cancer are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. Please sponsor me, whatever you can spare, towards this magnificent charity and to help thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults who are fighting childhood cancer.
