I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! In August 2016, my daughter, Piper, was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing's Sarcoma -- - a rare bone cancer that affects less than 200 children every year in the U.S. To date, she has endured 12 rounds of in-patient chemotherapy. In November 2016, she received a below the knee amputation of her right foot. She has two more rounds of in-patient chemotherapy to go, followed by radiation. Piper has endured more than any child should, and she has done so with a smile on her face and with a spirit that cannot be crushed. Please help us keep it that way. 

A definitive cure for Ewing's Sarcoma is desperately needed. What works for one case, often doesn't work for another. Research for pediatric cancers, including Ewing's Sarcoma, is vastly and consistently underfunded. In 20 years, the FDA has initially approved only two drugs for any childhood cancer – 1/2 of all chemotherapies used for children’s cancers are over 25 years old. Two drugs in Piper's chemotherapy protocol were developed in the 1960s! 

The National Cancer Institute spends 96% of its budget on adult cancers and only 4% of its budget on children’s cancers. This is why you see so many parents of pediatric cancer kiddos fundraising! The parents are not only fighting this beast on a daily basis, we are also raising money to fund the research that may cure our babies. It is ridiculous. Nonetheless, here I am, asking you to give money to help find cures for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting pediatric cancers.
