Every 2 minutes... a child is diagnosed with cancer.
It's a statistic that has stuck with me since I first got involved with St. Baldricks. I decided last March, as my kids and husband shaved their heads and donated the money they raised, that this year I'd shave MY head and see if my friends and family would be willing to put some dollars to help fight this terrible situation.
I have a few favorite kids, and I bet you do too.
**Quick internal montage of favorite times with your favorite kids**
And now imagine one of them getting cancer.
Enough. Wipe your eyes. And put your money where your heart is.
I shave my head for Dalton Andrew, a family friend that died at 19 after two battles with brain cancer. I shave to raise money so my kids, my grandkids, my nephews, and my friends' kids have a better chance to avoid cancer, or fight it quickly and successfully. I save my head for YOUR favorite kids. I shave for all kids, even the shrieky, sassy ones, because even the worst kid doesn't deserve the horrors of having cancer.
Will you please make a donation? Childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
So think of what you can donate, and then give just a little more.
On behalf of the child that was diagnosed while you read this message, THANK YOU FOR HELPING US STOP KIDS CANCER!
**And now go hug your favorite kid!**
Yours,
Karen Amrhein
