I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Summit (SMS)

This is my 9th year in a row participating in a St. Baldricks event. One of the main reasons that I participate in these events is because of the personal relevance. I have many family members who have suffered from cancer, both past and present. Almost all of the names of the children I am honoring share the first or last name with the first names of family members I have lost or the type of cancer of family members who have also been affected by cancer. Though I looked for everyone I knew, I couldn't find everyone, like my grandfather Vero Aloia. This event means so much to me, and I am proud to have been doing it for so long, especially this year again doing it with a team from my middle school. One of my childhood heroes, a man named Sir Nicholas Winton, once said this, "I have a motto that if something isn’t blatantly impossible, then there must be a way of doing it." I agree with this statement 100%. It's why I do St. Baldricks every year. Curing childhood cancer isn't impossible, and St. Baldricks appears to be the best way to meet (and defeat) this challenge.
