In honor and loving memory of my son Brandon, a ray of sunshine with an unwaivering faith, a ready smile, an infectious laugh, a warm hug, and the most gentle soul you could ever meet, who was taken from us far too soon. Born into earthly life on August 31, 1994; born into his heavenly life on October 3, 2016. I will love and miss you forever my precious one!
I promised Brandon last year that when I cut my hair this year to donate to Wigs for Kids, I would also do the full shave with him if he sat beside me and held my hand the whole time. Sadly, he won't be here to experience this with me, but a promise is a promise, and I'm not backing down. I would love nothing more than to hear that the money we raise helps researchers kick cancer to the curb. It will be too late to help my son, but if we can help save another family from having to experience pain and loss like we have had to face, then oh what a joy that would be! Cancer needs to go... now!
Why the St. Baldrick's Foundation? By raising money for this wonderful organization, not only will I be helping fund childhood cancer research, but by willingly shaving the hair from my head, I will be showing my support for and solidarity with cancer patients from all walk of life who unwillingly lose their hair due to the treatments they withstand in an effort to save their lives. In retrospect, my hair seems so small a price to pay. My hair will grow back. Will theirs?
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. Making matters worse, childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar raised will make a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
In advance, thank you for your support, not just for the financial donations, but your gifts of prayer and moral support are appreciated, too.
Most humbly yours,
Roberta
