I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: UTHSCSA Medical Students

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! I am currently a graduate student studying the after effects of treatment for childhood cancers. After finishing my PhD, I plan on finishing my medical degree and becoming an oncologist. I hope that one day I may help design more effective and less toxic cancer therapies. Before I decided to follow this path, a close friend of mine was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Being his friend and watching him go through this difficult time in his life prompted me to become interested in oncology. St. Baldrick's is a wonderful event and I am happy that childhood cancer patients may find some solidarity in this event. I am deeply grateful for the donations, patient activism, and research that occurs as a result of St. Baldrick's, because it has a real impact. My friend survived Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a result of scientific progress. Such progress primarily occurs as a result of generous donors and clinicians and researchers who dedicate themselves to the study of cancer. If shaving my head could help contribute to all of this, then I am happy to do it. Thank you! Brian
