Hey, everybody! My fraternity has formed a team for the 2016 Annual St. Baldricks Shave, and I am one of the participants helping to raise money for childhood cancer treatment research.
The St. Baldricks Foundation works with leading pediatric oncologists to provide funds to hospitals, train future researchers, help current researchers, and fund supportive care, among many other things. It truly is a great organization, and any donation helps!
Now, you may be wondering why, aside from benefiting mankind, you should donate, and here is your answer. The goal on my team member page (which you can find here https://www.stbaldricks.org/donate/participant/827872/2016) is $3000. This a lofty goal, but I believe that we can raise it together.
I will be shaving my head regardless, but I think you should show stand with me by donating. Additionally, the stakes grow as the donation pool gets larger. If $1000 are raised, I will shave my armpits. If $2000, I will shave both of my arms. At $3000, I will shave my legs, and at $5000, I will shave my chest. This mass shaving will be happening on Monday, March 14th (I can't make it to the official event).
Now, I have over 1,000 Facebook friends, so there is absolutely no reason that I should not raise that money, if not more. What are you waiting for? Donate!
