I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Burlingame

Dear Family and Friends,

I want to let you know that I am glad to be participating in  the  St. Baldrick’s fundraiser again this year. This fundraiser raises money for pediatric cancer research.

On March 24th a big group of people involved in St. Batldrick’s and I will be shaving our heads to symbolize what children with cancer have to go through. Each member also raises money to donate to St. Baldrick’s to help find a cure for cancer.

Last year I raised over $700 on my own and my team raised $12,000 together. Sometimes my team gets together to do fundraisers on street corners and we sometimes raise over $1,000 in a few hours. It feels great to think about how you are helping all of these young kids who were diagnosed with this awful disease.

My mom’s friend Ann, who lives in Australia, has three boys and her youngest son George (age 6.5) was diagnosed with cancer when he was 3 years old. He has been fighting for 3 years and was so brave during the whole process. Unfotunately,  George’s battle ended with a tragic ending and George passed away almost a month ago. Even though I never met George, because he lived so far away, he still made a big difference in my life and is the reason I joined this fundraiser.

I continue to do this fundraiser for George and hope that other kids won’t have to go through everything George went through. My goal this year is to raise at least $800 on my own and even more for my team.

You can donate by clicking on the green DONATE button above. Or you can make a cash or check donation to St. Baldrick’s in person or by mail.

Any donation helps.

Thank you so much for your support and helping me succeed in my goal.

        From,

        Avi Shapero
