I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Dynamos

Dear friends, In case I haven’t seen you lately, you might not know that I have been growing my hair for about a year. I am doing it for a fundraiser called St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation raises money for research for children’s cancer. It started with 3 men who wanted to compete to see if they could raise $17,000 by shaving 17 heads. They raised $104,000, shaved 19 heads, and donated the money to fund the research of the Children’s Oncology Group. Those 3 men started St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Their names are Tim Kenny, John Bender, and Enda McDonnell. The foundation donated $25,686,140 in 2015 to fund children’s cancer research around the world. If you want to read more about the foundation, go to www.stbaldricks.org.St. Baldrick’s Foundation allows children to turn their dreams into reality with life saving treatments. Unfortunately, some people going through cancer treatments lose their hair. In support, some firefighters, police men, and military troops have shaved their heads as a symbol of what sometimes happens to people who have cancer. This year, I will be shaving my head at an event at Helen Fitzgerald’s on March 5. I am doing this for children with cancer. The money will be going to doctors to help find a cure. Over 175,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer and we will help them. I am very thankful that I have not had cancer and have not had to go through what these kids have. I have never gone to sleep and woke up in a hospital. I don’t have to take the medicine they have to take. I am thankful that I don’t have to, but I am also thankful they have hospitals and medicine to help them. I need your help. I am asking friends and family for donations to St. Baldrick’s. Some people have said they would donate money for me to keep my hair, but it is coming off! I have a page on the St. Baldrick’s website and it is listed below. Any amount will help! Please go to the website and click on the Donate button. You can also come out to the event on March 5, 2016 at Helen’s and watch me get my head shaved. I am going to be on a team called The Dynamo’s with my friends, my dad, and his friend, Mr. Hugge. Mr. Hugge is a doctor who helps kids with cancer. My dad, says that we need to put him out of a job!Our Team: The Dynamo’sThe event: Helen Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub, March 5, 2016, time to be determinedMy page: https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/826206/2016Thank you for helping me raise money for research for children’s cancer,Jake
