Friends and friends-of-friends, and friends-of-friends-of-friends, etc....
The time felt right this year to shave off my hair to raise money for childhood cancer. No, not just because I am curious as to what my hair really looks like brown and gray after dyeing it blonde for the last 25 years, and not because putting it up in a pony tail everyday has gotten to be too much work for my morning routine.
This is my "thank you" to the many children, adolescents and young adults whom I have had the privilege to know as my patients over the years, and who have given more to me in smiles and inspiration than I could every give back. This is in honor of those who have died as my "thank you" for the privilege of being part of your lives and my promise to continue to try to put myself out of a job as the work continues to search for cures. And, this is in honor of Dr. Fola Adisa, our friend and partner at the Aflac Cancer Center, who fought breast cancer this year in addition to enduring other personal hardships but somehow continued to come to work with a smile on her face and demonstrated to all of us the beauty of being bald.
Please help me make this as worth-while as possible and contribute any amount you can to childhood cancer research. I think this head of hair is worth $10,000-20,000…don’t you? Thank you for your contribution. I look forward to seeing you at 5:30pm on March 11th at Fado's in Buckhead for my shave-date!
