I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! I'm doing it in honor of a friend who's family has been to hell and back. Amie, who is battling breast cancer, and her husband Jim are the parents of three beautiful girls. Emma, age 13, has had 9 brain tumors, 6 chemotherapy protocols, 30 surgeries, 12 vertebrae fused with rods, and an amputated leg. At age 5 she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis and along the way has developed scoliosis. Delaney, age 16, has a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. She is nonverbal and will be dependent on her family for the rest of her life. Allie, age 20, is a healthy sophomore at UW Oshkosh and at the age of 11, started an organization called Operation: a Sister's Love. This passionate organization makes and distributes blankets to children in the hospital and their families (to date, they've created close to 1,200). The amazing thing about this strong family is the positivity and laughter that has remained constant throughout these life struggles. For a family that is going through so much, I'm amazed at their strength and resilience to smile despite the hardships.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
