I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

To be honest, my story is quite different from that of the rest of the Mommas; but, it’s the outcome we want for all the kids and families to hear and to have. On January 22 1968, I was diagnosed with Stage IV High Risk Neuroblastoma at a mere 8 1/2 Months Old. Just 6 days later, on January 28 1968, I had surgery to remove my Right Kidney and a 2 1/2 pound tumor (the size of a big man’s fist.) This was followed by chemo (which consisted of 250 INDIVIDUAL SHOTS given directly into the backs of both my hands) to dissolve what remained of the cancer on my Left Kidney and the outer lining of my Stomach. I wasn’t always such a fierce Activist or Advocate when it came to Childhood cancer, but that all changed in mid-August 2008!! Ever since then, I’ve only continued to get louder and share more!! In 2016, I’ll mark 48 YEARS post diagnosis of Stage IV High Risk Neuroblastoma, approximately 3 1/2 Months after that I’ll mark my 49th Birthday - and my voice will only grow stronger in the fight because I am forever one of the kids!

I'm raising money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
