I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: WCTA Breaking Bald

My Shave Proposal to my Vice-Principal...
Dear Mr. Hammond,
My name is Daniela Tejeda and I am a fifth grade student in Mrs. Lyttle-Martinez’ class. I have been in Somerset Academies since the 1st grade. I was born with a non-functioning kidney and had to have surgery to remove part of it when I was 15 months old. Today, I’m pretty healthy and consider myself fortunate. But right now, I need you to think about this…
Every 3 minutes a kid (or baby) dies of cancer. Wait… I should explain myself. This year I have decided, to dedicate myself to raise awareness for childhood cancer research and will be shaving my head for an organization called St Baldrick’s.
Here’s how we as Wildcats can help:
1) We can build a Somerset Team OR join another team that is already participating
2) There’s a walk (5k & 1k) in February that we can participate in for $35 per person called “St Baldrick’s Foundation Lepre-Con 2016”
3) People can donate money by sponsoring team members.
4) In March, we can cut our hair and donate it.
5) In March, we can SHAVE OUR HEADS
OR
6) Somerset Academy can just SUPPORT ME when I shave MY head for this great cause!!!!
I’ve been wanting to do this for 2 years and NOW IS THE TIME. Somerset can do this by helping me spread the word and getting others to sponsor me or to just support my decision by rooting me on! People can even attend the shave event when the time comes.
Do you think we can make this happen??? It would be an honor to represent Somerset Lone Mountain if you would support me in doing this.
At this time, I am participating with the high school students of WTCA (West Tech Academy). We can either join their team or we can create and build our own.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and thinking about how Somerset can support me (and my soon-to-be-bald head)!
Sincerely,
Daniela Tejeda
5th Grade – Mrs Lyttle-Martinez
PS. You can pull me aside to talk more about this. I have hello kitty glasses and my hair is usually in a ponytail. Or you can just call my mom’s cell phone or email me.
