This March I'll be shaving my beautiful purple locks to raise money for childhood cancer research! Im shaving in honor of Kate Stevens who in July of 2007 was diagnosed with Acute Monocyntic Leukemia at Age 5. I didn't know Kate, but my Aunt worked with her Dad and shared her story with our family, she was just a few days older then me and I wanted to do something. A few months later I cut my hair and donated it in her honor to locks of love, which I did again when I was 10. Kate's story touched me, Kate's fight and determination inspired me. We are both 14 now and I'm happy to report that Kate is Cancer free, and when I thought of who I wanted to honor with this shave it was a no brainer for me. I've NEVER forgotten Kate's Story, whether I'm walking for premature babies or Suicide Awareness, Taking part in a day of Random Acts of Kindness or collecting food for the animal shelter ... she's always in the back of my head. Its funny how one person (even someone you've never met) can change your world. That's my goal with this shave... if I can make even one persons life better, or bring awareness, then that's a win!! I'm looking for people to join my team or to donate to this great cause. P.S. mom says if I raise 10k she'll shave her head too.... what more motivation do I/YOU need!?!? Thanks for taking the time to visit my page!!Love, Madison
