I have always been a supporter of children’s charities; primarily MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. I only recently learned of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which supports the fight against cancer in children.
When Amy was born, she had to spend her first six days in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) due to having rapid respiration and VSD (a hole in her heart) when she was born. I was only able to hold Amy at feeding time as she had to be in an oxygenated tank to help with her breathing. There were two preemies born the same day, one weighed 3 lb. 3 oz. and the other was 3 lb. 5 oz. It broke my heart to watch them fight for every breath.
None of this even begins to compare with the devastation I can only imagine if someone were to tell me that my child had cancer. Yet this is something that happens to thousands of parents every day. It just does not make any sense to me that a child should have to suffer with this terrible disease.
On March 12, 2016, I will be getting my head shaved (a video of me going “bald for St. Baldrick’s” will be posted after the event) in an effort to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Please take a minute to view the video I have included with this message.
At the end of the video you will find a link to my page for making a donation. I have set a goal to raise $350. Please help me with this effort. Whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated and please believe me when I say that EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!!!
Thank you for your time and generosity.
