This is my 2nd year teaming up with St. Baldrick's to help raise money for children's cancer research. I volunteered last year on a whim when I was out to dinner with Ivan, his wife and another shavee, and I mentioned that I'd always wanted to shave my head but never felt like a had a good enough reason to, Ivan of course instantly added me on Facebook and the rest is history. I have known several people affected by cancer, my uncle in particular and it is an absolutely deveststing disease and to know that I can do something as simple as shaving my head to help raise money that could save a child's life made the decision that much easier. I will say that I was super nervous about shaving my head last year, mainly for vanity reasons, that and the fact that I work and the medical/retail field so I wasn't sure how people would react, but no has had anything but nice things to say about it and I've loved the short hair so much that I've kept it pretty short all year. One of the other things that doing this event last year was the confidence to get out of my comfort zone and do something that I thought was crazy at the time, but last year at the event was probably one of the happiest days I've ever had. If you're not involved I strongly encourage you to get involved.
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
