I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: UMD Bulldogs

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: UMD Bulldogs

I never personally knew anybody who was affected by cancer until my freshman year at the University of Minnesota Duluth. There I met a guy who challenged and changed everything I knew about life. His name is Sam Hosszu. Sam lives life with an irrepressible sense of humor, he can make even the darkest of times bright just by saying a few words. When you're with him, you're never without a laugh. Sam had a two and a half year battle with cancer, and throughout everything he maintained balance by finding the comicality in life. By finding the little silver linings. By living life on his own terms, and not letting a terrible disease define who he is. He's a role model and an inspiration who makes life worth living -- the world needs people like him. That's why I dedicate my head shaving to him, for teaching me that things are never as bad as they seem, that we should live life to the fullest, that the only time to quit fighting is never. It's an honor to know him, and an even greater honor to call him my friend.
