Howdy, everyone! This is Jennifer. I would like to share with you a little something about our journey.
First of all, how many of you like to try to get a haircut on a regular basis? For men, every 3-4 weeks and for women, every 6-8 weeks, depending on length?Well, we once did, too! I have only been able to get my hair cut one time since Sydney's diagnosis in October. I don't even get highlights, lowlights, extensions, etc. Nothing fancy, just simple trims! But I haven't even managed to do that more than once in the last 5 months. Mark, on the other hand, has been a little more fortunate, since I started cutting his hair myself about 9 years ago, to save time and money. We are somehow able to squeeze that in at night, after we get all the children in bed. I figure it has saved us approximately $2,340 over the past several years, with only a $39 pair of shears! Pretty amazing, huh?
Right now, though, he has been without a haircut for quite some time. When we were asked to have Sydney as an honored kid at the St. Baldrick's event, I decided to stop cutting his hair. This means lots and lots of gray is showing! He is in desperate need of a haircut. He is soooo ready to get his head shaved! But I refuse to let him get a haircut unless we reach our goal.
So, he is begging you to PAY TO REMOVE THE GRAY!
This is where YOU come in. If our family & friends & friends of friends & prayer warriors would donate the cost of just one haircut, we could meet our goal. If this means giving up a scheduled haircut in order to donate the money, please consider making this small sacrifice. With 1,028 members of Sydney's prayer support Facebook page, if only 1 out of 5 individuals donate the cost of their haircut to this very good cause, we can easily surpass our goal! You don't have to think big. Please don't think that if you can't donate several hundred dollars, that you shouldn't do it at all. A whole lot of small donations can quickly add up to something big! Small sacrifices can have huge payoffs!
Just a simple haircut. What was once so simple for us, too. Nothing about our life has been simple since Sydney's cancer diagnosis.
Here is something else to consider. We are only asking 1 out of 5 of you to make this small donation. The price of a haircut. The thing is, 1 out of 5 children who are diagnosed with cancer won't survive. This is very hard for us, as we go through this, because we are getting to know many parents of children who are at the hospital, and to know that 1 out of every 5 parents will lose their child to this terrible disease is heart-breaking for us. This very easily could have been us. This fight isn't over for us, yet, either.
This is why Mark is shaving his head. Plain and simple. To help raise money for childhood cancer research. If you want to understand why, watch the video on this page. It is VERY informative and accurate and really hits home with us!
Now, HURRY! We only have 3 short days to raise enough money to reach our goal. No appointment necessary. Just click DONATE. Do it NOW. Don't wait.
Thank you for your prayers, love, and support~The Kallus Family
