I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Mercer

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Mercer

As I sit here the night before shaving my head, I looked at my donation page and saw a section that you are to put why you are shaving your head. So why am I doing it?I promised Alex, our team captain and friend of my son, that I would do it with him last year, so he was not the only team member of Team Mercer. I messed up and forgot to sign up and felt bad, but that is not my main reason. Last year childhood cancer became a topic of conversation in our house. We knew several families that this horrible disease seemed to effect. I watched several friends shave their heads in Chicago last year, raising in the area of $500,000 for St. Baldrick’s, I wish I could say that is the reason for me doing this, but that is not my main reason.I sit here thinking of a good friend of mine, Eric Leventhal, who died 15 years ago of a cancer. I miss my friend. My hope is that there is some good to come out of this fundraising effort. I do this so friends can grow old together.
