I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: McHenry West Campus

Last June I was hospitalized for severe abdominal pain. After tests and a CT scan a tumor was found between my spleen and pancreas. When the doctor came in to tell me what was going on he barely knew what to say, it was one of the scariest moments of my life. The mass had grown so large that my spleen needed to be removed along with the mass itself and part of my pancreas. The whole experience taught me more than I ever thought one person could learn in such a short amount of time. Not knowing if the mass was benign or not was remarkably scary, my doctor was optimistic that all would be well, and I am so beyond blessed to say that it was in fact benign. The realization of how truly lucky I am not only for the fact the tumor was benign but also to have the amazing support system I had through it all is something I will never take for granted. I can never thank my husband enough for all he did for me, from moving back home from Texas to Illinois with me, to never leaving my side in the hospital, to being there every second with healing, to so much more. I am participating in this wonderful event because I want everyone to know they are not alone and to say thank you to those who helped me every step of the way; my husband, my family, and the amazing hospital staff and surgeon.

I just recently donated my hair and am so excited to shave the rest for this amazing cause!

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
