I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Eric

Well it’s that time of year again to save some $$$ on shampoo and hair products! Please help me fight childhood cancer and support the St. Baldrick’s Charity on March 29th at the Downtown Salon and Poor Herbie’s Restaurant where I will once again be offering my scalp to the highest bidder. Last year Madison PBA Local #92 took top honors with their donation and Madison PBA President Anthony “The Razor” Maccario shaved my head at the event. While shaving my head he had a gleam in his eye but I made it out with only minor injuries (only kidding)!

For those of you who aren't familiar with St. Baldrick’s, the events have raised approximately $154 million, providing research grants to doctors and scientists at more than 300 institutions. These funds enable them to pursue the most promising new cures for childhood cancer, in addition to making clinical trials available to more children than ever. Since 2000, St. Baldrick’s has hosted more than 5,500 head-shaving events, shaving more than 244,000 heads in 30 countries and 50 U.S. states.

St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer driven charity, which keeps fundraising costs low and grants high. The organization is the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. Consider these staggering facts: In the US one out of every five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. Additionally, in the US more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease.

In 2013 there were 32 shavees at this event who raised over $43,000 for pediatric cancer research. In 2014, we topped that number with 45 shavees who raised over $100,000!

Did you receive a ticket in Madison lately? Now is your chance to scalp the Chief and seek your retribution! I want to thank everyone who supported my cause last year.

Sincerely,

Chief Darren P. Dachisen Sr.
