I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Ok, I’m doing it! I’ve been going back and forth for a few months, but I’m all in now. I’m going to shave my hair to help raise money for childhood cancer research. What’s my motivation?

1) I lost my mom to cancer this past spring. It seems so unfair to lose such an awesome person at such a young age, but the truth is she got to live a rich, amazing life. I want to help more kids get a chance to grow up and love and be loved and just live.

2) Jesus calls us to love others.

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:9-11

This is my way of hugging a mother or a father whose child has recently been diagnosed with cancer. I have so little to offer in the face of such fear and pain, but I do have hair. And if giving it up can turn into donations that can turn into research that can turn in cures, then I offer it up with joy.

I’m hoping some of you will join me with your donations. Every dollar is an act of love.
