I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: theChive Maryland

I'm shaving this year in honor of Deja. She is the daughter of a girl I went to high school with. Her story is below

Deja was diagnosed with Severe Combine Immunodeficiency (SCID) at just 3 weeks of age. SCID is a rare genetic disease that makes the person unable to create a normal functioning immune system. Only cure proven so far is BMT. Deja was up for her bone marrow transplant from a unrelated full match donor in October of 2014 when she became I'll and transplant had to be pushed back. She was then up for transplant in February 2015 when she became severely I'll in January. On January 28 we were given the devastating news that Deja has Lymphoma and it was cancerous. She is currently in her 1st cycle of chemotherapy. Because Deja has and underlying disease it makes her situation more critical.
