As a pediatric oncology nurse I have a front row seat to watch the effects of childhood cancer on children and their families. I see the miracles that happen and the families and children who are strengthened through the process. However, I also witness the destruction. I've seen the agony in a parent's eyes when they are told their infant has leukemia. I've seen the disbelief in a soccer-loving boy's eyes when he returns from surgery after an above knee amputation. I've seen the embarrassment in a teenage girl's eyes when she has to leave her hospital room for the first time with no hair. I've witnessed a child take their last breath more times than anyone should ever have to.
For all of these reasons and more, I am taking a stand. This March I will be joining St. Baldricks and shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research. These kiddos are strong, but they need an army behind them! Please join me and let's help them fight this battle!
Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
