Update: I've decided that I want to be blonde just one time before I shave my head. So I'm in the process. Right now I think I look like the "Heat Miser" from a Christmas special.
But the end result will be bald, by choice, and to have fun doing it. I've raised quite a bit of money so far and even had to change my original goal and make it higher.
Also working on trying to get some corporate sponsors so wish me luck there.
I will say this, I have talked more about childhood cancer and my own experience with my father's cancer while doing this find raising. And in doing so raising AWARENESS!!!
Thank you all for your donations and lets keep them coming!!!
"You're shaving you head?"
Why yes, yes I am, March 14th, St. Baldrick's, in Viera.
"Why"
To raise money for childhood cancer research, support the kids, and in memory of my friends sister Lisa.
"There's other ways to raise money; run, bake sales, why shave your head?"
I have a choice to shave my head, these children fighting cancer don't have a choice, I'm doing it for them!
They stopped asking questions after that comment.
When I was young I rode a school bus that my friends Paula and Doreen's mom drove. It was always early as we had to ride the high school bus to catch a shuttle. I noticed Lisa laying down in the front seat, tired, like all of us, but with a bandana on her head. I didn't know any better, never thought about it until I was little older and my dad got sick with Lung cancer.
Lisa was 6 years old when she was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor, she had treatment, but it was caught too late.
I'm doing this, shaving my head, for the children, so they can have a fighting chance. Lisa fought, I know she did. This is for her!!
