I'm Erica. Acrobat, troublemaker, daughter of a cancer survivor, Knight of the Bald Table, hater of pickles, lover of nature, President/Senior Artistic Director of Circus Couture, and general cheerleader and sassy friend to kids on a cancer journey.
On October 5th we will present Circus Couture's 5th annual event. Since co-creating the organization half a decade ago, I have been humbled and stood in awe of the incredible generosity of this community over and over again each year. Hundreds of hands have laid their love and work into CC, each making the lives of families battling childhood cancer a little brighter. It has been the greatest honor of my life to be part of this work. If I had a gift like Midas that could turn my gratitude into money for research, I would certainly have enough to fund a breakthrough. As I lack the Midas touch, all I can offer is my heart, my energy, my love (and fierce intent to fight) for the families and kiddos I've met in this battle, and... once again: My hair.
To celebrate Circus Couture's 5th anniversary, I will be shaving my head, live onstage, as part of the Circus Couture performance at the Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It has been 5 years since I braved the clippers on the CC stage. I think each falling hair could represent one of the countless acts of kindness, donations, or pieces of work done by someone in our community to help the kiddos over the last 5 years. For me, each one will represent a thank you... From the bottom of my silly, feisty heart, thank you for letting me be a part of your world, for letting us be a part of your hope, and for letting us be ourselves as we stand by to support those on the front lines of the fight against childhood cancer.
Thank you... For everything.
